WIND LAKE SOLUTIONS COMPLETES GEOSPATIAL ANALYSIS PROJECT

Wind Lake Solutions, Inc., Waukesha, WI, announced the recent completion of a geospatial systems and process analysis project for an Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) based in North Carolina.  The project, which was completed under a contract with VARGIS LLC of Sterling, VA, involved the analysis of the utility's use of geospatial information and technologies, and was designed to assist the company's leadership team in its consideration of the most appropriate evolution of its information systems.

Systems analyzed as part of the project included the EMC's existing mapping/GIS and mobile mapping applications.  Interfaces and interaction between those systems and the company's Customer Information System (CIS), Financial Information System (FIS), Outage Management System (OMS), network analysis application, and SCADA technologies were also examined as part of the project.  Systems review was complemented through detailed analysis of the company's routine service order, outage restoration, and engineering/work order processes.

"Combining our external perspective with our customer's real world experience made for a very successful project", said Gary S. Miller, Wind Lake Solutions' Vice President, Solutions Development and principal consultant on the project.  Miller continued, "It was a pleasure working with an EMC that has the ability to respond to customer and business needs with progressive systems initiatives."

The consulting team's findings included the identification of a set of opportunities for the enhancement and extension of existing systems, the replacement of certain system components, and the implementation of new applications and modified processes.
